A fake notification claiming the removal of Prof. Dr. Nausherwan Burki, Chairman of the MTI Policy Board at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), has been circulated on social media, triggering confusion among health sector officials and the public.
The fabricated document, which reportedly spread across various digital platforms, falsely claimed that Dr. Burki’s services had been terminated with immediate effect in the “interest of public service”.
The forged notification carried the letterhead of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department and was dated October 12, 2026. It also contained a counterfeit signature attributed to the provincial health secretary, giving the document the appearance of an official government order.

However, Health Department officials clarified that no decision had been made to remove Dr. Burki and that no such notification had been issued. They declared the document fake and rejected the claims circulating on social media.
Officials condemned the circulation of fabricated information, warning that such material could mislead the public and create unnecessary administrative confusion. They urged the public and media organisations to verify official announcements through authentic government channels before sharing them.
An inquiry is expected to be initiated to identify those responsible for preparing and circulating the forged notification.
The incident has raised concerns over the spread of misleading information on social media, particularly when fabricated documents are presented as official government decisions.
