The federal government has simplified the application process for the Apna Ghar housing scheme, reducing the number of required documents from 25 to just five to make it easier for citizens to apply.
The government has also set a maximum processing time of 15 working days for applications to speed up loan approvals and improve access to housing finance.
The decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The prime minister directed the relevant authorities to further simplify the application process and guide applicants in obtaining the property ownership documents required for housing finance.
He also instructed the State Bank of Pakistan and relevant ministries to consult stakeholders and submit final proposals by the end of October to improve loan facilities for housing, agriculture and small businesses.
During the meeting, officials briefed the prime minister on progress under other government-backed loan schemes.
Agricultural loans have reached Rs1,352 billion, while the government aims to increase the amount to Rs1,500 billion by June 2027. It also plans to expand the number of farmers benefiting from the scheme to 4.5 million.
Meanwhile, more than 352,000 small and medium-sized businesses have received loans worth Rs1,137 billion. The government aims to increase financing to Rs1,500 billion by June 2027 and extend support to 575,000 business owners.
