Islamabad Traffic Police has announced the complete closure of the road from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk until further notice and issued a traffic diversion plan to guide commuters towards alternative routes.

The traffic police has advised citizens to leave home 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual to reach their destinations on time.

According to Islamabad Traffic Police, the road closure is likely to affect traffic flow on several major roads across the capital. Citizens have been urged to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.

Under the diversion plan, commuters travelling to Rawalpindi from G-5, the Secretariat and Serena Hotel can use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue. Alternatively, they can take Srinagar Highway towards Mehrabad and Peshawar Road. They can also use the Lake View U-turn to return towards Murree Road or Club Road.

People travelling to Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and Lehtrar Road have been advised to use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel and Rawal Dam Road.

Commuters heading to Murree and Bhara Kahu can reach their destinations via Faizabad, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, the Srinagar Highway underpass, Jinnah Square and Kanrayian Wala Chowk.

Meanwhile, those travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad can use Ninth Avenue, Faquir Aipee Road and Srinagar Highway.

Citizens entering Islamabad from Park Road and Lehtrar Road have been advised to take Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.

The Chief Traffic Officer said traffic flow on various roads in Islamabad could be affected during the diversion. Traffic police personnel will remain deployed at different locations to guide commuters and facilitate their journeys.

The traffic police has also advised citizens to stay updated on the latest traffic situation by tuning in to ITP FM 92.4 and following Islamabad Police’s social media pages.

Islamabad Traffic Police said ensuring safe and convenient travel for citizens remains its top priority. The public has been urged to follow the instructions of traffic personnel and avoid travelling towards the closed road.
