Pakistan and Canada have signed an important agreement (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in medical education and professional training.
The agreement aims to create new opportunities for postgraduate medical education, doctor training and professional development in both countries.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The signing ceremony took place at the Pakistan High Commission in Ottawa, where senior delegations from both medical institutions attended the event.
The agreement is expected to strengthen professional links between the two countries and support improvements in medical training.
The two institutions will work together to improve postgraduate medical education and training.
The partnership will focus on developing doctors’ professional skills, strengthening institutional capacity and sharing knowledge. Both sides will also exchange international best practices and professional training methods.
It may also support medical institutions in improving teaching methods and professional development programmes.
However, Pakistani doctors seeking to practise in Canada must still follow the country’s applicable licensing and registration requirements.
Pakistan and Canada strengthen healthcare cooperation
Medical experts have welcomed the agreement as an important step towards closer relations between Pakistan and Canada in healthcare and education.
They believe stronger cooperation between leading medical institutions can help improve the quality of specialist training.
The CPSP plays an important role in postgraduate medical education and specialist training in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is a major organisation involved in setting standards for specialist medical education in Canada.
The new partnership provides a framework for both institutions to exchange expertise and develop professional cooperation.
