Ex-ISI Chief to testify against Imran Khan, claims Vawda

ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda claimed that the former ISI chief, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, will testify against the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan.

The allegations were made by Vawda, a former leader of the PTI, while speaking on a private media channel. He added that Hameed will provide evidence against the imprisoned ex-PM.

On Thursday, before the day, Hameed was sentenced by the Field General Court Martial. The ex-chief spy was sentenced to 14 years of severe incarceration.

The sentence encompassed involvement in political activities. It also involved breaking the Official Secret Act.

Vawda predicted the legal squeeze, based on the May 9 cases, would only worsen. The events of May 9 are the rampages of 2023 that happened after Khan was arrested.

It also happened that Vawda accused Hameed of having access to military installations’ information. He informed that the next target would be Khan’s party.

Khawaja Asif, the Defence Minister, was also interviewed in the same programme. Asif claimed that May 9 had been a conspiracy.

He alleged that the violence was meant to question the appointment of the Army Chief. Asif claimed that Imran Khan could not have carried out the May 9 riots alone.

He had Hameed as an influence even in retirement. The minister said that additional cases were yet to be filed. The sentence given to Hameed was a historic step for the government.
