Google Maps is preparing to introduce a new feature for users that will allow them to receive a welcome message as soon as they arrive at an airport in a new city. With the help of this feature, travellers will be able to easily access directions, important locations and local information about the new city.
According to a report by technology website Android Authority, when a user arrives at an airport in another city, they may receive a special message from Google Maps.
The message will encourage users to try Google Maps’ ‘Ask Maps’ feature, through which they can ask various questions and obtain information about the new city.
The feature will be powered by Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model, which will provide users with better guidance during their travels.
Feature Available in 90 Cities, Pakistan Not on the List
According to the media report, the feature has been spotted in a new version of Google Maps for Android devices. Currently, the facility is available in around 90 cities worldwide, but no Pakistani city is included in the list.
What Is Google Maps’ Ask Maps Feature?
Google introduced the ‘Ask Maps’ feature in March 2026. It allows users to ask questions related to maps and obtain information about their destinations, travel routes, nearby places and other local facilities.
Through the new feature, Google Maps aims to particularly help travellers visiting a city for the first time who may not have much information about its routes and important locations.
