Earthquake jolts Balochistan's Panjgur

PANJGUR: An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 struck Panjgur, a district in Balochistan, in the early morning on Wednesday.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre said that the quake was caused at a depth of 12 kilometres. Namely, the epicentre was found approximately 85 kilometres north of the district headquarters.

The people living in the region complained of feeling slight tremors. Therefore, a lot of individuals hurried out of their houses as a precautionary measure.

Luckily, the government denied that there were any direct reports of casualties and significant damage to property.

Hence, the local government is not at an emergency alert. Nevertheless, there are rescue teams that are on standby to detect any additional seismic activity.

Balochistan is geologically located on the active fault lines, and it is vulnerable to constant earthquakes. Due to this fact, small tremors are rather frequent in this rocky land.

The current event is a reminder to the residents to be ready against natural disasters.

To sum up, the case in Panjgur is stable after the quake. Local authorities are still inspecting the area to see if there is any structural damage that is not evident.
