Web desk: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam continues to face a tough start to his Big Bash League 2025–26 campaign in Australia as he failed to deliver another notable performance for the Sydney Sixers in the Sydney Sixers vs Adelaide Strikers match on Wednesday.
After scoring only two runs on his BBL debut against the Perth Scorchers, Babar was dismissed for nine runs off 10 balls in the Sixers’ match against the Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
He managed to hit one boundary, which was his first four in the tournament. However, he looked uncomfortable against the pace and bounce.
Babar’s innings ended when he attempted a lofted shot off Luke Wood and was caught by Matthew Short.
His early dismissal disappointed fans who were hoping for a strong comeback after his poor debut.
Other Pakistani players have also struggled in the BBL so far. Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi failed to make an impact in their opening matches.
Shadab Khan has been the only Pakistani player to deliver a strong performance, according to fans.
Attention now turns to Hasan Ali, who is part of the Adelaide Strikers squad.
Fans will be hoping he can make a better impression with the bat or the ball as the tournament continues.

Babar Azam is feeling a lot of pressure these days and that's what I think. No, Babar Azam has never played in shorts like this before and it is quite surprising that Babar Azam is playing in shorts like this on the Australian ground. 🥲 pic.twitter.com/LpbXcXsVwO

Shaheen Afridi taken off bowling in BBL
Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had a disappointing debut in the Big Bash League (BBL). The Pakistani star pacer was removed from the attack after a difficult spell in the match between the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades.
Shaheen Afridi bowled 2.4 overs for 43 runs without taking a wicket, including three no-balls and two wides.
While he started his second over positively with three dot balls, he struggled to maintain line and length in the remainder of his spell.
In the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings, Afridi delivered two full-tosses at chest height to Tim Seifert and Ollie Price.
This prompted the umpires to remove him from bowling due to dangerous deliveries.

The franchise announced the move through its social media platforms, showcasing the star Pakistani batter at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground.
While Babar is widely associated with the number 56, the Sixers introduced a creative variation; the 30-year-old will sport 056 this season.
