NASCAR legend Greg Biffle dies in a plane crash

NORTH CAROLINA: A tragic plane crash occurred at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina.

Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, along with his family, died in a plane crash. As per the reports, seven people died in the incident.

After the departure from the airport at 10:06 AM on Thursday, the pilot noticed an error and tried to communicate with the tower. He was told to land immediately.

In doing so, at 10:15 AM, the plane crashed at the east end of the runway, accompanied by fire.

The victims who died include Greg Biffle (55), his wife Cristina, and their two children, Emma and Ryder.

Three other associates, including Biffle’s assistant Craig Wadsworth and family friends Dennis and Jack Dutton, also perished.

Officials said that heavy clouds were hovering in the sky, which could be a major reason for the crash.

Investigation Initiated

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched a full investigation.

Initial reports say that the pilot may have declared an emergency, yet the reason for the crash remains unknown.

The NASCAR community is deeply sad about their legend’s death. Biffle was a famous figure, known for winning 19 Cup Series races and multiple championships.

Recently, he was also praised for a humane act of rescuing the Hurricane Helene victims in his helicopter.
