RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, attended the Christmas celebrations at Christ Church in Rawalpindi, joining the Christian community in commemorating the joyous occasion. He extended heartfelt Christmas greetings and best wishes for peace, harmony and prosperity to the community.
Paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Field Marshal highlighted the Founder’s vision of equality, freedom and religious tolerance, emphasizing the protection of minority rights as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s ideology.
Interacting with the congregation, Field Marshal highlighted the enduring contributions of Pakistani Christians to national development and security, including their proud and distinguished service in the Pakistan Armed Forces across generations. He also stressed upon the importance of interfaith harmony, mutual respect and unity, stating that Pakistan’s strength lies in its diversity, equal opportunities and shared constitutional values beyond religion, ethnicity, caste and creed.
The COAS & CDF reaffirmed Pakistan Armed Forces’ commitment to upholding the dignity, security and equal rights of all citizens, as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan. The Christian community leaders expressed gratitude for the Field Marshal’s visit, acknowledging Pakistan Armed Forces’ role for protection of homeland, inclusivity, religious harmony, and national unity in Pakistan.
President, PM extend Christmas wishes to Christian community
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed Christmas greetings to the Christian community of Pakistan and around the globe.
In his message, the President said, “The message of love and humanity that this season brings reminds us of the deep bonds that unite all people.”
The President mentioned the quote of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah that, “You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste, or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”
He noted that this event is a symbol of sympathy, peace, and hope.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly greeted the Christian community at the special occasion.
He prayed that the birth of Hazrat Isa (A.S) may bring stability, peace, and prosperity to the Christian community in Pakistan.
By adding, the PM said, the event of Christmas is a symbolic gesture of peace, tolerance, and goodwill.
The PM also mentioned the sacrifices that the Christian community has made against terrorism. To maintain the peace of the country.
