Karachi: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast the first spell of winter rain for Karachi, as a western weather system is expected to move across parts of the country later this week.
According to the Met Office, a system driven by western winds may begin affecting Karachi between Tuesday and Wednesday. As the system advances, it is likely to bring cloudy conditions and increased chances of rainfall across the port city.
Upper regions to see impact first
Meanwhile, forecasters said the western weather pattern will start influencing Pakistan’s upper regions from December 28. These areas are expected to experience colder conditions, along with rain and snowfall in higher elevations.
Rain forecast for Balochistan
Subsequently, the system is expected to move southward. The Met Office has predicted rainfall in Balochistan and adjoining areas on December 29, which could provide relief from dry conditions but may also disrupt travel in some districts.
Karachi rain likely on Dec. 30
As the system progresses, Karachi may receive rain on Dec. 30, marking the city’s first winter rainfall of the season. Meteorologists said the intensity is yet to be determined, but residents should prepare for cooler temperatures and wet conditions.
The forecast signals a seasonal shift as winter weather patterns strengthen across the country. NDMA authorities have advised the public to stay updated with official forecasts as conditions evolve.
