LAHORE: Lahore police has arrested 13 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists for blocking roads and chanting anti-government slogans in Main Market, Gulberg.
Several unidentified protesters managed to flee the scene.
According to police, the incident occurred on December 26, 2025, after which a case was registered at Thana Ghalib Market.
Initial reports say Sub-Inspector Imran Ahmed, along with police personnel, reached Main Market during routine patrol and search.
Around 25 to 30 unidentified protesters were standing in the middle of the road, obstructing traffic and chanting against the government, causing serious difficulties for the public.
Police tried to disperse the protesters and reopen the road, but they resisted.
During the operation, 13 individuals were apprehended and later identified themselves.
The arrested include Zameen Khan Niazi, Aman Ullah, Jahanzeb, Ahmad Raza, Ali Rehman, Hassan Sajjad, Hafeez, Muhammad Ehtisham, Aamir, Muhammad Wajid, Abdul Wakeel, Zakir, and Zameer, from Lahore, Narowal, Mansehra, Peshawar, and Abbottabad.
Police said 11–12 unidentified individuals took advantage of darkness and escaped.
According to the FIR, the accused blocked a public passage, causing major difficulties for citizens.
Their actions fall under Sections 290 and 291 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The arrested individuals were taken into custody and legal proceedings have begun.
The case has been formally registered at Thana Ghalib Market and investigation handed over to the Investigation Wing, while senior officials have been informed.
Police stated that action will continue without discrimination against those violating law and public order.
