Saudi Arabia gives 24-hour deadline for UAE forces to withdraw from Yemen

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has demanded that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours.

According to Arab media reports, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has described the recent actions of the UAE as extremely dangerous.

In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was said that the support for separatist groups by the UAE in Yemen poses a direct threat to Saudi Arabia’s national security.

Moreover, the statement clarified that such actions could be detrimental not only to Saudi Arabia but also to the peace and stability of Yemen and the entire region.

On the other hand, according to Arab media reports, Rashad Al-Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Council (PLC), has announced the decision to cancel the joint defence agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Rashad Al-Alimi said that all UAE forces present in Yemen must leave the country within 24 hours. He further stated that a complete air, land, and sea blockade is being imposed for 72 hours on all ports, land, and maritime routes of Yemen.

According to media reports, these orders from Yemen’s Presidential Council came at a time when the Saudi-led military coalition carried out limited airstrikes in Yemen, targeting the Al Mukalla port.

According to the Saudi coalition, this operation was carried out against foreign military assistance provided to the UAE-backed Southern separatist group, the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
