MURREE: After intense snowfall in Murree, the district administration has closed the Murree Expressway for traffic to avoid any inconvenience to tourists.
According to National Highways and Motorway police, the entrance from Phulgara Toll Plaza to Murree for general traffic will remain shut due to severe snowfall.
The officials have urged the local residents of the valley to use N-75, which is currently open for them and other emergency traffic.
The NHMP, in their alert, urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain and snowfall in Murree and nearby hill stations, including Galyat and Nathiagali, starting December 30.
This weather is expected to continue until January 2, covering New Year’s Eve.
Islamabad and Rawalpindi rain
Light to moderate rain is underway in Islamabad, turning the weather chilly in the federal capital.
A large number of people are visiting recreational spots, including Damn-i-Koh, Pir Sohawa, Lake View Park, Rawal Dam and Pakistan Monument with family to enjoy the pleasant weather on the New Year.
According to Met Office, Saidpur received 19mm of rain, H-8 sector recorded 17mm, Golrha 10mm, and Shamsabad 16mm.
Fog Update: Motorways M-2 and M-5 closed due to heavy fog
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has closed motorways M-2 and M-5 today, due to dense fog.
The officials warned the motorists not to travel unnecessarily and to follow the safety guidelines strictly.
The motorway M-2 is closed between Thokar Niaz Baig and Hiran Minar.
M-5 motorway will remain closed from Shershah to Zahir Peer.
GT Road Usage
Traffic has been directed towards the Grand Trunk (GT) road as an alternative for the travellers.
The Traffic Police has advised the commuters not to travel in bad weather and to wait until the fog clears.
The officials said that once the fog clears, the motorways will be opened once again for traffic.
