Web Desk: Police said that on New Year’s eve a cracked down launched against aerial firing during new year’s celebrations and arrested 59 suspects.
As per police details 19 suspects were arrested in District central seven in district city, 17 in District East, six in Malir, three in Giziri, two in Korangi, three in south and two in Keamari district.
Police said action will continue against those involved in celebratory gunfire to ensure public safety.
Police said on that security and other arrangements, including measures against aerial firing, were being made in Karachi.
Citizens could send complaints and videos of persons involved in aerial firing and share relevant information with police.
It stated that on a citizen’s complaint, immediate legal action would be taken and those involved in aerial firing would be charged with attempted murder and other offences.
In the statement, police appealed to citizens to remain vigilant. They also asked them to record and share videos of people firing into the air on New Year’s Eve.
Karachi police to use drones to curb New Year aerial firing
Earlier it was reported that Police announced that drones will be used to curb aerial firing in Karachi on New Year’s night in the port city.
As per details, the Sindh police decided to conduct a crackdown against the aerial firing in Central Karachi using latest technology on New Year’s night.
The SSP central said that police will carry out arrests across the city after the drones identify perpetrators of aerial firing.
“Aerial firing poses a serious threat to public safety and has previously resulted in injuries and loss of innocent lives” he said.
Police have also urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and help ensure a safe and peaceful start to the new year.
As per reports several incidents of aerial firing were reported across Karachi on New Year, leaving 10 people injured, including a child. Despite repeated warnings and enforcement measures, celebratory gunfire continued in multiple neighborhoods of Karachi, posing serious risks to public safety.
