ISLAMABAD: As winter intensifies, the temperature in the capital has dropped. Dense fog has covered the major parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and the fog has reduced visibility and disrupted daily life in the twin cities.
The fog has covered several areas in Islamabad early in the morning. The severe fog has made it difficult for traffic to get along on major routes in the capital.
Visibility is almost zero in locations including the Express Highway area from Naval Anchorage to DHA Phase 2, Bahria Town Phase 4 and Phase 7, and residential areas near the Sawan River.
The low visibility also led to delays in the flight operation at Islamabad airport. The traffic was slowed on nearby motorways and main highways.
The authorities have advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during low-visibility times.
Meanwhile, residents of both Islamabad and Rawalpindi witnessed slow and jammed traffic on the roads and other routes, especially near low-lying areas.
The weather experts said that fog was accompanied by recent cold conditions in Murree, as it is snowing there.
