Web desk: Punjab Police paid tribute to Captain Asmad Shaheed and his colleagues in a solemn ceremony in Lahore.
The remains of Captain Asmad Shaheed were escorted by the Memorial Pilot Squad of the Traffic Police.
While officers and personnel of the City Traffic Police showered flower petals at all intersections along Mall Road as a mark of respect.
Speaking on the occasion, CTO Lahore Dr Athar Waheed said that the martyrs of the Pakistan Army are a symbol of pride for us.
He said, “Martyrs of the Pakistan Army are a symbol of pride for us.”
GB snow clearance operation
A Pakistan Army captain, along with a soldier and a civilian machine operator, was martyred during a snow clearance operation in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Saturday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation, carried out with heavy machinery.
It aimed to clear Burzil Pass to ensure the operational movement of troops in the area on the night of January 2–3. The mission was led by 28-year-old Captain Asmad.
“At around 2am on January 3, 2026, while subject operation was ongoing, a snow slide triggered, resultantly Captain Asmad along with two soldiers and civilian machine operator (PWD) got entrapped,” said the ISPR.
After rescue efforts, all four individuals were pulled from the snow; however, the condition of Captain Asmad, 32-year-old Sepoy Rizwan. And machine operator Essa worsened.
All three tragically embraced martyrdom.
“These individuals rendered ultimate sacrifice by leading a challenging operation, in extreme weather conditions, to facilitate operational movement of forces,” the statement said.
