Peshawar: Adverse weather conditions, including dense fog and poor visibility, caused widespread disruption to air travel at Bacha Khan International Airport on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of flights, the diversion of international flights and delays to others, Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said.
As per details that dense fog has severely affected flights operations at Bacha Khan International Airport as visibility dropped as low as 50 meters.
According to schedule Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Sharjah to Peshawar was sidetracked to Lahore.
An Emirates Airlines flight from Dubai to Peshawar has been delayed and Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Peshawar and from Peshawar to Abu Dhabi were also delayed while due to hostile weather conditions Emirates flight from Peshawar to Dubai delayed.
As the authorities said that PIA flight from Abu Dhabi was redirected to Karachi and PIA flight incoming from Dubai was diverted to Islamabad due to unfavorable weather.
Authorities have advised passenger that before heading to airport to check the status of their flights and exercise caution while travelling in foggy conditions.
As per official note as the visibility improved the flight operations were gradually returning to normal.
Cold, dry weather to prevail across Pakistan
Earlier it was reported that after the rain in parts of the country for days, the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted cold and dry weather across most the country and partly cloudy conditions in several regions.
In Pakistan’s northern areas, including Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather is expected to remain cloudy, while light rain and snowfall may occur at a few locations. The federal capital Islamabad and surrounding areas are also likely to experience cold weather with partly cloudy skies.
KP is expected to remain cold with partly cloudy weather in most districts and upper districts may experience severe cold. Light rain and snowfall are also possible in Kohistan, Battagram, Chitral, and surrounding areas.
