Step-by-step process for online passport applications

Earlier it was reported that in a video message shared on social media, the department advised users to visit the official portal at www.onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk to apply for online passport renewal.

According to the video, users who already have an account should simply click the login button.

New users, however, must click register, fill out the required information, and ensure their mobile number and email address are correct.

After submitting the form and entering the verification code, applicants will receive a verification link via email.

Clicking the link and entering the code completes registration, after which users can log in with their email and password.

The department added that detailed instructions for submitting a new application have also been provided on the portal.

Applicants can choose from five available options based on their needs.

It clarified that online renewal is only allowed if the passport’s validity is less than one year.

Major changes such as name, profession, or other amendments cannot be processed online.

Citizens can also select their nearest passport office from a drop-down menu to avoid travelling long distances in case an office visit becomes necessary.

The video further outlines photo requirements for both men and women applying online.

It states that the photograph file size must not exceed 1 MB, and all uploaded documents must be in PNG, JPG, or JPEG format.
