Imran Khan Bushra bibi meet in Adiala jail

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi held a meeting in Adiala Jail, according to jail sources.

The meeting was held in the jail’s conference room and lasted for about 45 minutes in which both of them inquired about each other’s well being, the sources said

The meeting was held in accordance with jail rules and code of conduct.

According to jail sources, the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi met last week as well. After court permission, these meetings are being held on regular basis.

Sources said that Bushra Bibi’s lawyer provided some essential items to the jail administration yesterday, which were received. The items included blankets, warm clothes, fruits, dates and other items.

It should be noted that the PTI founder Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail in connection with various cases.

Meetings of high-profile prisoners in Adiala Jail are conducted under strict security and prison rules. Jail authorities maintain that all prisoners are treated equally according to the law.

There is a legal process for a prisoner to meet the spouse. The inmate or the spouse must apply to the jail superintendent first. If the permission is denied, the application may be taken to the deputy commissioner.

In case the deputy commissioner also rejects it, application can be filed in the relevant trial court. If the trial court dismisses the request, the matter can be taken to the high court. Such meetings require a designated family room inside the prison. However, according to sources, Central Jail, Adiala, does not currently have a facility for spousal meetings
