Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 1st T20I: Pak win toss, opt to bowl

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets with 20 balls to spare on Wednesday.

Pakistan won the toss against Sri Lanka in the first Twenty20 International in Dambulla. The Green shirts chose to bowl first.

While talking about his team, Captain Salman Ali Agha expressed confidence. He stated that the squad is very balanced.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets in the first T20I.

Pakistan successfully chased the target of 129 runs set by Sri Lanka. The total score was reached in just 16.4 overs with the loss of four wickets. Shadab Khan was declared Player of the Match.

Sahibzada Farhan scored 51 runs off 36 balls. This innings included four fours and two sixes.

Saim Ayub scored 24 runs off 18 balls. Captain Salman Agha was dismissed for 16 runs.

Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion after scoring five runs. Additionally, Shadab Khan remained not out on 18 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed one wicket each.

SL sets target of 129 runs

Sri Lanka had a shaky start to their innings. They lost openers Kamil Mishara (0) and Pathum Nissanka early, with the score at just 15.

Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis (14) and returning Dhananjaya de Silva (10) tried to steady the innings. They added 22 runs for the third wicket.

However, both fell quickly, leaving Sri Lanka at 38/4 in 6.5 overs.

Janith Liyanage came in at No.6 and led the fightback with a determined 40 off 31 balls. It included two fours and a six.

He shared two key 18-run partnerships with Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed in the 18th over.

Captain Dasun Shanaka (12) and tailender Dushmantha Chameera (0) were also dismissed.

Mohammad Wasim Jr caught Maheesh Theekshana to end the innings.
