Islamic University graduate arrested in Panjgur operation

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a massive operation against terrorists in Panjgur and arrested International Islamic University graduate Sajid Ahmed.

Addressing a press conference alongside Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan Hamza Shafqat, CTD Balochistan DIG Aitzaz Goraya said that the arrested terrorist is a graduate of the Islamic University Islamabad.

He added that security forces conducted a major operation in Panjgur. DIG Goraya said that Sajid was transporting a large quantity of weapons from Panjgur to Turbat.

He further stated that the arrested terrorist played a central role in disseminating content of proscribed organisations on social media.

He said another terrorist, Jahanzeb Mehrban, was also arrested for his involvement in providing funds. Jahanzeb had also recruited an 18-year-old boy to join him.

According to officials, Sajid Ahmed had previously taught at the University of Turbat.

His sister-in-law was also involved in the activities of BYC. In further operations, another terrorist, identified as Sarfaraz, a resident of Bazil and Kharan, was also arrested.

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Force (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, highlighted the strategic importance of Balochistan for Pakistan’s future while interacting with participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ), reported Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, praised the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan.

He said the province holds a key position in Pakistan’s prosperity and long-term development.

The CDF COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted ongoing efforts that are aimed at improving socio-economic conditions in Balochistan.

He stressed that a people-centric approach is highly important in order to unlock the province’s economic potential.

He also acknowledged the positive role of civil society. Especially in countering propaganda and contributing to development.

CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasised the need to reject political agendas. He said that Balochistan’s future should be shaped by inclusive growth and prosperity.

Addressing security challenges, CDF COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir said Indian-sponsored proxies were continuing efforts to spread violence and disrupt development in the province.

He also said that such attempts would be countered through firm action by security forces to eliminate terrorism and unrest.

Further, he warned that any direct or indirect violation of the country’s territorial integrity would be met with a strong and decisive response.

He added that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to protecting the lives and well-being of the nation’s citizens.
