Umairi leaked video: CCD denies arrest, encounter rumours

Umairi Marry viral video Crime Control Department

The recent circulation of an explicit video featuring a man referred to as Marry or Umairi has sparked widespread discussion on social media. While some reports claimed that Marry was arrested by the Crime Control Department (CCD), others alleged that he had been killed in an encounter.

SP CCD Aftab Phularwan addressed the situation, stressing that many of the circulating claims are false. He confirmed that the video is a matter of concern but clarified that the CCD is not handling the case. “This is not a case of rape. Both individuals were consenting, and no one was forced,” he said. “CCD deals with serious rape cases, and this does not fall under our jurisdiction.”

He also denied rumours linking the department to any violent action against Umair Butt. “Umair was not arrested by CCD, nor was he shot or killed by our officers,” Aftab said. “Local police are investigating the matter, and CCD only conducted a preliminary inquiry, which confirmed that it is not a rape case.”

The SP urged the public to avoid spreading false information for attention or social media engagement. “Misusing the CCD’s name can have consequences under NCCI regulations. People should not share misleading claims just for views or likes,” he added.

Aftab also expressed concern over the way the videos have been treated online. “Multiple clips are circulating, and the issue has been turned into jokes, memes, and songs. Such content should not go viral as it trivialises the matter,” he said.

Authorities continue to urge caution and responsible sharing of information, emphasising that rumours linking CCD to Marry or Umairi’s arrest or death are entirely baseless.
