Karachi residents are facing severe gas crises in several areas due to the closure of gas fields.
According to reports, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is facing a deficiency of about 45 Million Cubic Feet Per Day (MMCFD) of gas on account of two gas fields closure.
Due to the shortage, several domestic and commercial users are facing difficulties due to low gas pressure.
The worst affected areas are Malir, Saudabad, North Karachi, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, and Shadman Town
Areas including, Sir Syed Town, Kathore, Garden, Bora Pir, Akhtar Colony, Manzoor Colony, Chansar Goth, Gadap City, Orangi, and Liaquatabad are also facing gas outage.
Industrial sites are also facing difficulties due to severe gas outage.
Despite having billions of rupees spent on laying new gas pipelines, the city is still facing gas shortage.
Citizens are already frustrated about the digging for new pipelines, and now the gas outage has caused more frustration.
SSGC spokesperson that work is being done to restore the gas supply and it will return to normal in a few hours.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) also refuted social media news regarding complete gas closure for residential customers are fake and unverified.
The SSGC added that the night gas load management will continue as per schedule 10 PM night to 5 AM morning.
The SSGC stated that, this settlement was done to ensure an uninterrupted gas supply for consumers as the need for commodity has increased due to cold wave.
