Major change in winter vacation schedule expected in Sindh: details

The Sindh Education and Literacy Department is considering shifting winter vacations in schools from December to January, due to the extreme cold and strong winds in the first month of the year.

Consideration has been started to hold winter vacations in schools in January instead of December.

As per the details, the change is being suggested because, according to observations of the last few years, the most severe cold comes in January.

This is also the month when there are strong winds and low temperatures that can affect students’ comfort and even health.

Education department officials say that this proposal has come up in view of climate change.

The department’s steering committee will consider this issue during its next meeting.

If this proposal is approved, the winter vacations in schools in the southeastern regions of the country, including Karachi, will be in January instead of the last days of December.

In recent years, due to climate change, the winters in December have been relatively mild.

However, the weather in January tends to become harsh and cold.

According to the current academic calendar, schools reopen on January 1.

This means that students have to face the coldest weather when they return to school from winter break.

Even this year, schools opened before the onset of the harshest wave of winter.

The timings of the schools in Karachi were earlier revised due to extreme cold.

The decision has been announced by the province’s educational minister for private and educational institutions.

Additionally, it has been directed that the classes will start at 9 am from January 12 to 26.

Winter vacations extended

Winter vacations in Azad Kashmir have been extended. As per details, the Azad Kashmir government took the decision on Sunday.

After the extension of winter vacations, the government notified that schools will remain closed till January 17 across Azad Kashmir.

Prior to this, the school vacations started from December 29, and the educational institutes were scheduled to open on January 10.
