Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup due to injury.
According to cricket website Cricinfo, Naveen-ul-Haq will also miss the three-match T20 series against the West Indies next week.
Cricinfo reported that the bowler will undergo surgery later this month.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has not announced a replacement for Naveen-ul-Haq yet.
However, the reserve players for the T20 World Cup include spinner A M Ghazanfar, Aijaz Ahmad Zai, and fast bowler Zia-ur-Rehman Sharifi.
The nature of Naveen-ul-Haq’s injury has not been disclosed.

Previously, Pakistan’s National cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi announced that he will start bowling after the recent injury.

Speaking at a PSL franchise, Lahore Qalandars, event in Lahore, Afridi said that the injury was not serious.
“There is swelling, but it will heal. My rehab is ongoing, and the PCB team is monitoring it. I will start bowling next week,” he stated.
Observers suggest that this may indicate a higher chance of him performing in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

He further added that Pakistan has scored well in the past.
