PTA facility: overseas Pakistanis can now maintain SIM ownership

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced measures to help Pakistanis living abroad avoid having their mobile SIM cards blocked.

The step aims to ensure that Pakistanis who stay abroad for education, work, or any other reasons can continue to use their mobile SIMs and telecom services.

Under this plan, users can keep their SIM cards active during their stay outside the country.

In the past, complaints arose that SIM services were suspended if they were not used for a long period.

This caused problems for users trying to stay in touch with family and handle important communications in Pakistan.

A PTA spokesperson said the authority is committed to providing uninterrupted telecom services to the Pakistani people living abroad.

The spokesperson explained that users who want to use this facility for a certain period must inform their mobile service provider in advance.

Also, if any fee is required, it must be paid. After that, the SIM will remain active even while the user is abroad.

According to the PTA, the initiative helps Pakistanis abroad maintain ownership of their mobile SIMs.

It also makes it easier to stay connected with family and friends in Pakistan. Continuous access to banking, online verification, and other digital services is also ensured.

The PTA advised Pakistanis living abroad to stay aware of their SIM status.

They should contact their service provider on time and use the available facility to prevent their SIM from being blocked or suspended.

PTA issues consumer alert

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned mobile users about fake calls and UAN numbers.

The authority said that the scammers are impersonating the PTA, FIA, and banks to steal personal information.

In an awareness video, the PTA reminded consumers that no government organisation will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, identity card number, or biometrics.

Citizens were urged to stay alert and verify information only through official government channels.

The PTA also stressed responsible use of SIM cards.
