Widespread intermittent rain continued in many parts of the country on Thursday, while heavy snowfall in upper regions under a strong weather system turned conditions cold.
Rain began in Lahore and several other cities in the evening and continued late into the night with short breaks, leading to a sharp drop in temperature and wet conditions across the city.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said rain with wind and thunderstorms, along with snowfall in hilly areas, will continue on Friday in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad and upper Punjab. The department also warned of moderate to heavy rain and snowfall at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab and Kashmir. Most other parts of the country are likely to remain cold and dry.
Islamabad and nearby areas will see cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms. Several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Swat, Dir and Mansehra, may receive rain with snowfall in upper areas, while heavy snowfall is likely in higher districts.
In Punjab, cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore and Faisalabad are expected to receive intermittent rain and thunderstorms. Cold and cloudy weather with rain and snowfall is forecast for Murree and Galiyat. Sindh and Balochistan are likely to remain mostly cold and dry, while Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience rain and snowfall.
