Germany has launched an online visa application facility for Pakistani nationals seeking family reunification, allowing the applications to be submitted through a newly introduced Consular Services Portal.

As per the details, an official launch of the online service has been announced by the German Embassy in Pakistan to make the family reunification visa process easier.

Sharing about it on the official Facebook page, the embassy states that “Online applications for family reunion visa applications via the Consular Services Portal open from 15.01.2026.”

However, the required documents have not changed. Interested individuals can find the complete list of documents on the website of the German Embassy in Islamabad.

Additionally, the Consular Services Portal does not yet include submission fields for all mandatory documents.

Therefore, it has been advised for people to check out the “Guide to Completing Your Application” in slide two of our post.

This outlines some additional documents that are needed to complete the application.

The German embassy said that applicants whose spouses or close family members live in Germany and hold an EU passport will continue to use the old waiting list system, not the new online portal.

These applicants will receive priority appointments under the “Freedom of Movement” law.

The embassy also clarified that incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Submitting forms with missing or incorrect information on the portal will not lead to faster appointments.

With the new online system, applications will be checked in advance. This is expected to reduce the time needed during the in-person visit to the German embassy.

Applicants will also be able to track the status of their applications online.

Adding as the final note, the embassy further stated, “Only apply when you have completed your whole application. Submitting an application with incomplete documents has no advantage.”

Further adding, “It will not be processed and will not lead to a quicker appointment.”
