Schools holidays announced in AJK, Northern Pakistan due to heavy snowfall

Due to severe cold and heavy snowfall in the northern regions, authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and northern Pakistan have announced a two-day closure of all public and private schools.

According to the details, the administration has made the decision to close all public and private educational institutions for two days due to heavy snowfall in Azad Kashmir.

Change in school timings

In addition to this, schools have revised the timings due to the severe cold weather. The decision has been made to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students, teachers, and school staff.

The School Education Department, Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, has announced a revision in school timings.

Weather in Azad Kashmir

Intermittent snow continues in the high mountains in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir areas, including Hatian Bala, Chunari, Chakothi, Lipa Valley, Ganga Choti, Arang Kel, and Sargan Valley, and other northern regions of Pakistan.

These extreme weather conditions have disrupted daily life in these regions. Several roads are closed, and tourists have been trapped and isolated in many areas.

Several vehicles have also collided due to the slippery roads, resulting in death of two people and injuring seven others.

Balochistan weather

Harsh weather is also continuing in Balochistan. Vehicles have been stranded on the Quetta-Ziarat Highway and N-50. Additionally, more than 100 tourists have been stranded in Chaman.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather

In the Tirah valley, about a hundred vehicles have been stranded due to heavy snowfall and rain.

The upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral, and Khyber, also face heavy snowfall.

Pakistan weather

On Friday, rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.

Snowfall is likely in mountainous areas. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall may also occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, and Kashmir.
