Lahore to host Pakistan’s biggest bicycle race on Jan 25

The Punjab Sports Department will organise its first major sports activity of 2026 with Pakistan’s biggest bicycle race. The bicycle ride is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 25.

The event will feature separate bicycle races for girls and boys, while a mass bicycle ride will also be held to encourage public participation.

Provincial Minister for Sports Punjab Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, will personally take part in the bicycle ride.

According to officials, more than five hundred cyclists are expected to participate in the race, with families also joining the ride.

The bicycle ride will begin at Manal Liberty Chowk and conclude at the National Hockey Stadium.

The registration process for both the bicycle race and ride is currently underway. Several prominent sports personalities will be present on the occasion. Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Ali, Director General Sports Punjab Khazra Fazal Chaudhry, along with other officers of the Sports Department Punjab, will also attend the event.

The initiative aims to promote healthy activities, cycling culture, and community participation across the province.

It is worth mentioning here that ‘Tour de France’ is regarded as the world’s most prestigious and iconic bicycle race. Held every year in July since its inception in 1903, the three-week UCI WorldTour event spans approximately 3,500 kilometres and draws millions of spectators from around the globe. Often referred to as the “Super Bowl of cycling,” the Tour de France stands as the pinnacle of the sport.
