iPhone 18 series likely to launch this year with ‘Dynamic Island’

iPhone 18 Dynamic Island

Apple’s next flagship phones, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, are expected to launch later this year, with early leaks pointing to noticeable display changes. The trending update is a smaller Dynamic Island.

Apple is continuing to refine the look of its Pro models rather than making them more attractive to buyers. The changes will focus on screen design, efficiency and front-facing camera technology.

Dynamic Island set to shrink

According to the ‘Ice Universe’, the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro models will be 13.49mm in width. That would be a significant reduction from the 20.76mm cutout seen on the current iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

The smaller size suggests Apple may move some Face ID components under the display. On the contrary, Apple has not confirmed this. The major change would allow for a cleaner look without removing the Dynamic Island entirely.

New displays and camera upgrades

The Pro models are also rumoured to feature Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) panels. These displays are expected to improve power efficiency while maintaining smooth visuals, including a 120Hz refresh rate.

The iOS-supported device will also contain upgraded front-facing cameras across the entire iPhone 18 lineup, indicating a broader focus on selfies and video calls.

Screen sizes revealed

As per What Mobile, there might be various possible screen sizes. The standard iPhone 18 is said to feature a 6.27-inch OLED display, slightly smaller than its predecessor. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to match that size, while the Pro Max could come with a 6.86-inch screen, down from 6.9 inches on the previous model. The reported changes are subtle but consistent across the range.

iPhone Air 2 is said to have a 6.55-inch display, slightly larger than the earlier Air model. All four devices are said to support 120Hz refresh rates. According to media reports, the iPhone 18 series has entered sample production. While Apple could still adjust final specifications, the leaks suggest a focus on refinement rather than major redesign.
