After landing in Pakistan, the Australian captain did a brief press conference with the journalists and answered their questions today. He expressed immense excitement about being in Pakistan and explained that the series will be extremely important for them as part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup.
Australian captain Mitchell Marsh in a press conference before the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan, has called the series an important contest for his team’s preparations. Speaking at a press conference, Marsh said the team was taking the momentum from the Big Bash League and bringing it into the series and are particularly keen to perform well.
Marsh admitted that Pakistan has a great fast bowling history. He particularly praised Shaheen Shah Afridi and said that he is an “amazing bowler” and also admitted that players like Babar Azam and Shaheen are dangerous opponents. “Babar will be a challenge,” Marsh said, showing the respect the Australian side has for the key players of Pakistan.
When queried about his own teammate Travis Head he said, “We are very fortunate to have him in our team and he has shown himself to be a big match performer”, signalling the confidence within the Australian camp. However, Marsh affirmed that Glenn Maxwell does not belong to the squad for this series.
On the spin attack that Pakistan are going to use, Marsh said Australia will prepare carefully and it looks forward to the challenge. He added the strategy for the first match will be decided upon after team discussions later tonight.
Reflecting on his experience in franchise cricket, Marsh said he had a very good time playing along with Pakistani cricketers in the BBL. On a lighter note, he cracked that he had not realised that Pakistan gets so cold.
Overall, Marsh expressed his great respect for Pakistan and its players in underlines the competitive spirit expected in the series.
