Karachi police have arrested a man named Jibran, the son of notorious gangster Rehman Dakait, on Monday, and recovered an illegal weapon along with ammunition.
The arrest took place in the District City area under the limits of Kalakot Police Station during a police operation, according to the reports.
Police said they recovered an unlicensed firearm and rounds from Jibran at the time of his arrest.
Law enforcement officials said that Jibran is a habitual offender. They added that he has been arrested before in multiple criminal cases and has served time in jail.
His previous record includes FIR No. 183/2023 under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act and FIR No. 308/2024 under Sections 6/9(2)(3). Both cases were registered at Kalakot Police Station, according to the reports.
A new case has now been registered against him, reports say. Police said further legal proceedings are also underway.
Son of Lyari gangster Rehman Dakait killed
Back in March of the year 2024, Sarban, the son of notorious Lyari gangster Rehman Dakait, was shot dead in an alleged police encounter in the Old City area, Dawn reported.
DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said Sarban, who was in his early 20s. And he was leading a gang of criminals in Lyari, according to the reports.
“An encounter took place between street criminals and police within the limits of Nabi Bux Police Station. Sarban was shot dead and his accomplice, Maqsood, was arrested while wounded,” the DIG told Dawn.
Sarban’s father, Rehman Dakait, was also killed by police in 2009 along with three accomplices.
According to police, Sarban had been involved in drug trafficking, kidnapping for ransom, and other criminal activities.

He was wanted in multiple cases, including murder, drug trade, kidnapping, and extortion.
In March 2021, police arrested him for drug peddling and claimed to have seized 1,520 kilograms of hashish, 50 grams of ‘ice,’ and 60 grams of crystal meth, according to the reports.
He was booked in five cases and sent to prison. But he was later released on bail. He got bail in his last case on June 14, 2022.
Police recovered two .30-bore pistols and one snatched motorcycle from the suspects during the encounter.
