T20 World Cup: South Africa wins by 7 wickets against New Zealand

The talented South African side secured a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against the New Zealand national cricket team.

New Zealand and South Africa have locked horns in a high-voltage match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, with New Zealand scoring 175 in the first innings of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

After Marco Jansen claimed four wickets to limit the New Zealand national cricket team to 175-7, it was Aiden Markram who took charge with the bat for the South Africa national cricket team.

The skipper, Aiden Markram, smashed a rapid half-century off just 19 deliveries, spearheading a dominant power play assault that virtually sealed the contest. Markram stayed unbeaten on a commanding 86 from 44 balls, guiding his side comfortably across the line.

New Zealand batted first and scored 175 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. South Africa successfully chased the target of 176 in the 18th over.

For New Zealand, Mark Chapman scored 48 runs, while Daryl Mitchell made 32. South Africa’s Marco Jansen delivered an excellent bowling performance, taking four wickets.

In reply, South Africa’s Aiden Markram played an aggressive, unbeaten innings of 86 runs, hitting eight fours and four sixes. David Miller scored 24, Quinton de Kock made 20, and both Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brevis contributed 21 runs each.
