Social media users are wondering if the latest post on X from an account named after Noreen Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, regarding Imran Khan’s eyesight is fake or real.
As per details, the complete medical check-up of Imran Khan was completed at Adiala Jail yesterday (February 15).
Sources revealed that a specialised medical team conducted a detailed eye examination of PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
The examination was carried out under the supervision of senior doctors who remained inside the jail premises for nearly one hour.
Sources said the medical team focused specifically on assessing Khan’s eye health and brought specialised ophthalmic equipment to facilitate a detailed evaluation.
The team comprised experienced medical professionals, including Dr Farooq, Dr Sikandar, and Dr Arif, along with technical staff to assist in the examination process.
Noreen Khan shares latest update
An account named after Noreen Khan shared on X that “On Sunday afternoon, Imran Khan’s medical examination was conducted inside Adyala Jail. A heavy ambulance specially equipped with a slit lamp, OCT scan machine, and full facilities was also rushed to the spot.”
She further said that “Dr. Arif (PIMS) and Dr. Nadeem Qureshi (Al-Shifa) conducted a physical examination inside the jail. Later, they briefed senior doctors, including Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Mirza, about their report, who participated through a conference call. Barrister Gohar is also aware of all the developments.”:
“According to initial reports! Swelling has decreased. Vision is improving. No major complications have emerged so far,” she added.
Fact check
The story was first shared by Dawn, claiming that the post was shared by Imran Khan’s sister however they later apologised as PTI termed the statement and the X account fake.
The media outlet said “A story titled ‘Imran Khan’s right eye vision ‘improving’, says sister citing report’ was published by Dawn.com on February 16. We mistakenly ran the story quoting an impostor social media account purporting to be Noreen Niazi. We have since ascertained that the account is not authentic.”
Imran Khan to be shifted to hospital soon
The federal government earlier decided to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, to a hospital.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the government has taken this decision in view of Imran Khan’s health.
In a tweet, he said, “The government prioritises humanitarian compassion and legal requirements. Providing facilities to every prisoner in accordance with the law is the government’s responsibility.”
“Politics should not be done on sensitive matters like health. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should refrain from baseless propaganda or political point-scoring”, he added.
Imran Khan’s eye condition
Safdar, was the first visitor to Khan in seven weeks. He reported that his client’s condition was identified as a blood clot in his right eye. That resulted in significant damage that has left him with impaired vision.
He submitted a report outlining Khan’s condition to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan.
According to Safdar, Khan was left “visibly perturbed and deeply distressed by the loss of vision and the lack of timely and specialised medical care.”
He requested that his client be evaluated by a team of expert ophthalmologists, be allowed to see his family, and have improved prison conditions.
The court decided that Khan should be permitted to consult with his personal physicians in Adiala Jail, where he is currently held, and be allowed to make phone calls to his sons, Kasim and Sulaiman.
