CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir meets Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, met today in Abu Dhabi with His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor of the United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the fields of economic collaboration, investment and security. They also exchanged views on regional developments and emphasised the importance of continued coordination to promote peace and stability in the region.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for its longstanding investments and continued support to Pakistan’s economy and security over the decades. He noted that such support reflects the deep-rooted historical relations between the two brotherly countries and commended the constructive role of the UAE leadership in advancing economic and social development in Pakistan.

Field Marshal Asim Munir further affirmed that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates are an integral part of Pakistan’s own security, given the enduring historical relations and strong strategic partnership between the two countries. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to continuing joint efforts to further strengthen this partnership in all fields, in a manner that serves the interests of both brotherly peoples and contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Field Marshal Asim Munir holds key meetings with world leaders at Munich Security Conference

Earlier, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS and CDF, visited Germany from February 12 to 14 to attend meetings on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, according to a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday, February 15.

During the visit, the army chief met several international leaders and officials, according to the ISPR.

He held talks with Marco Rubio, the United States (US) Secretary of State. The discussion focused on issues of mutual interest. These included global and regional security and cooperation in counterterrorism.

As part of his engagements with German authorities, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany.

He also met Günter Sautter, Foreign Policy and Security Policy Advisor to the German Federal Chancellor, and Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence of the German Armed Forces.

These meetings focused on current security challenges. Discussions also covered bilateral defence cooperation and the importance of promoting global peace through dialogue at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

The army chief also held a meeting with Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces. The two sides discussed military cooperation between Pakistan and Brazil.

In addition, Rodolph Haykal, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, also met the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting covered global and regional security matters and ways to strengthen defence ties between the two countries.
