PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir meet Qatari PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman

Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, during his official visit to Doha on Tuesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present at the meeting.

The two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral relations between the two countries, Pakistan and Qatar.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments. Both sides reaffirmed the strong brotherly ties between the two countries.

Both of them also expressed satisfaction over the growing pace of political, economic, and institutional cooperation.

Talks focused on increasing cooperation in trade and investment, energy, defence, labour mobility, and cultural exchange.

Additionally, both of the countries agreed that their joint task force is essential to further accelerate collaboration in these areas.

The two sides stressed the importance of implementing decisions made during recent high level engagements.

It included the Joint Ministerial Commission and bilateral political consultations.

Regional issues, including the situation in Gaza and broader Gulf security matters, were also discussed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Qatar’s constructive diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and reduce tensions in the region.

Both of the leaders emphasised the peaceful resolution of disputes and adherence to international law. These also included the United Nations Charter.

The meeting also reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthen the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Qatar even more.

And, to maintain close coordination on bilateral, regional, and international matters.
