KP CM Sohail Afridi, Sohail Afridi, May 9 , PTI, Radio Pakistan attack,

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi has said that the security of Ali Amin Gandapur has not been withdrawn adding that if someone wants to stay in the news the government cannot be held responsible.

Responding to a question about the alleged withdrawal of Ali Amin Gandapur’s security the chief minister said the claim was false and that no one’s security had been taken away.

He added that he does not have the time to keep withdrawing security arrangements stating that the government’s priority is the release of the PTI founder.

Sohail Afridi further said that if someone tries to turn a non-issue into an issue just to remain in the headlines the government should not be blamed.

It is worth noting that a day earlier Ali Amin Gandapur had claimed in a message that at around 11pm the deputy CSO of the chief minister called his security personnel and told them on the CSO’s instructions to “stand down.”

He said that he had been provided with a jammer and a double-cabin vehicle by the provincial government along with 14 security personnel.

According to him when the personnel informed him about the call he told them to stand down. He said this was the actual reality of the matter.

Ali Amin Gandapur also said that even if his security is restored now he will not accept it adding that there is no need for the chief minister to return the security to him.

Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, CM KP Sohail Afridi said that during Ramzan while he was fasting he went to the rostrum and greeted the chief justice but the greeting was not returned.

The chief minister said that since he was unable to secure a meeting with the chief justice he tried to address him in open court.

Sohail Afridi said that they want to demonstrate that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf does not believe in protest-driven or violent politics.

He added that the party wants to show that after exhausting all options it resorts to peaceful protest which he described as their constitutional right.
