PM: Only 64 percent beneficiaries of Ramadan Relief Package received payments

Government officials informed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday that 64 percent of the recipients of the government’s Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package have received their payments to date.

The Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package 2026, which was launched on February 14, allocates Rs13,000 to each eligible household through bank accounts and regulated mobile wallets.

It is currently replacing the previous utility-store subsidy model with a digital transfer system managed by the State Bank of Pakistan.

This latest directive arrives as spending during Ramadan intensifies, with food purchases generally increasing during the holy month, leading the government to ensure that payments are delivered to families before household expenses rise further.

PM Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting in Islamabad to assess the progress of the Ramadan Relief Package, as stated by the PMO.

“It was reported that by the 8th of Ramadan, 64 percent of beneficiaries had received their payments,” the PMO noted.

“The verification and validation process for the remaining beneficiaries is proceeding swiftly”, he added further.

Officials updated the Prime Minister that this year, 12 banks and fintech companies are collaborating with the government to distribute the funds.

“To date, beneficiaries have completed 1.1 million digital transactions under the Ramadan package,” the PMO reported, adding that 1.227 million automated calls have been made by the government to enhance awareness among beneficiaries.

PM’s office indicated that the package is being distributed to beneficiaries nationwide, including in the northern regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir territories.
