PTA urges responsible social media use amid national concerns

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise caution and responsibility when using social media and digital platforms.

The authority directed the public to refrain from sharing or forwarding unverified, inflammatory or misleading content that could directly or indirectly harm national interests, public order, or state institutions.

The advisory highlights the importance of relying on authentic and official sources when sharing information.

It also warns that spreading rumours, fake news, or misinformation may result in legal action under relevant laws.

In view of the current sensitive national situation, the PTA emphasised that all users should act responsibly and consider the potential consequences of the content they circulate online.

The authority appealed to citizens to follow the advice with a strong sense of national responsibility.

PTA emphasised that citizens should rely on authentic information from official sources and avoid spreading rumours or fake news.

Sharing any fake news or misinformation may lead to legal action under applicable laws,” the authority warned, urging the public to act with “caution, maturity, and a strong sense of national responsibility” to help maintain stability and public confidence.
