The US Embassy issued a “shelter in place” advisory for American citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran, instructing them to avoid the embassy until further notice due to the attack.
A spokesperson for the embassy did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
President Donald Trump stated that the United States would soon take action in response to the attack on the embassy and the deaths of US service members in Kuwait.
“You’ll find out soon what the US response will be,” he added further.

Iran launched missiles and drones late Tuesday against multiple Persian Gulf nations, including a drone assault that targeted the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the regional tensions escalated following strikes by the US and Israel on Iran.
The Defense Ministry of Saudi Arabia released a statement on X indicating that two Iranian drones impacted the US Embassy, resulting in a minor fire and some material damage, based on an initial evaluation.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
According to three individuals familiar with the situation, a loud explosion was heard and flames were visible at the US Embassy early Tuesday morning following the launch of Iranian drones.
Black smoke billowed over Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter, which accommodates foreign missions.
Two of the sources mentioned that the building was unoccupied at the time, during the early hours, and one characterised the fire as minor.
