CBSE cancels Class X exams, postpones Class XII paper in Middle East

The board exams for Class X in the middle easthave been cancelled by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as well as a Class XII examination held by its affiliated schools in Oman and other countries in the Middle East has been postponed.

The decision has been taken keeping in view the prevailing situation in the region, which has led the authorities to take precautionary measures with respect to the ongoing and upcoming exams.

In a circular issued on March 5, 2026, the CBSE had informed schools that all Class X examinations which were scheduled to be conducted between March 7, 2026, and March 11, 2026, have been cancelled now for the students in middle east.

The board also confirmed that the examinations that were earlier postponed on March 2, 2026, March 5 and March 6 are now also cancelled.

The board further said that the method for deciding the result of Class X students in the middle east has not been decided yet, however, the schools and the students will be informed as soon as possible once the decision is made.

As for Class XII students, the examination then scheduled on 7 March 2026 has been postponed and the modified dates of the paper will be announced later based on circumstances.

CBSE also said that it will again review the situation on March 7 and will then come out with further instructions about the examinations which are due to be conducted from March 9 onwards.

The circular is applicable to schools affiliated with CBSE present in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and The United Arab Emirates.

Students have been asked to stay in close contact with their respective schools and to strictly follow announcements and instructions by the authorities.

The Ministry of Education in Oman said the schools in Musandam Governorate will run remotely until the end of the week.
