‘Nation is in a time of war,’ UAE president says in his first statement since Middle East conflict

Middle East conflict

United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan speaks for the first time since the beginning of the Middle East conflict.

In a statement, the president said that the nation is in a “time of war”.

He said the UAE will carry out its duty towards its country, its people, and its residents, adding that the UAE has “thick skin and bitter flesh – we are no easy prey.”

Drone attacks in UAE

Earlier, UAE authorities said that a total of 122 drones and 16 ballistic missiles were launched at the country in a single day.

At least 119 drones were intercepted, and two drones crashed within the UAE territory.

It is pertinent to mention that since the start of the war, three people have died in the UAE, including a Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi.

112 people got injured due to the drone attacks.

A drone hit Dubai near its airport, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy launched a drone attack on the al-Dhafra airbase, which is located approximately 20 mi (32 km) south of Abu Dhabi.

The war launched by the United States and Israel has entered its second week with no signs of slowing down, and heavy airstrikes across Iran are causing many civilian deaths.

The US military’s Central Command says it has struck more than 3,000 targets in Iran and destroyed 43 Iranian warships since February 28. The death toll in Iran has now risen to at least 1,332 people.
