A recent interview published by The Diplomat in its South Asia section has raised concerns among regional observers. In the interview, an Afghan political figure presented as an “intelligence analyst” accused Pakistan of secretly providing weapons to militants targeting China’s interests in Afghanistan.
South Asia editor Sudha Ramachandran conducted the interview and quoted Afghan political economist Ajmal Sohail. Sohail claimed that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had supplied weapons to militant groups operating in Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor.
Several journalists critisises the Sudha Ramachandran and The Diplomat for publishing the story without fact-checking. The prominent journalist wrote on X, “Sudha Ramachandran, the editor for The Diplomat in South Asia has interviewed Ajmal Sohail, and introduces him as an Intelligence Analyst to write about the ISI, China and ISKP. But does not mention that Mr Sohail is the founder of the Afghan Liberal Party, an Israeli front in Afghanistan to recruit political figures and create influence operations in Afghanistan.[Here is his interview with the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policy. Not to say that both the editor and he are clueless about regional dynamics and ISKP. If you have to push an agenda, do it smartly at least.”
Sudha Ramachandran and The Diplomat are spreading fake news
Sudha Ramachandran wrote the introduction of Ajmal Sohail as a security analyst, but Ajmal Sohail is the founder of Israel’s puppet Afghan Liberal Party. Ajmal Sohail’s Afghan Liberal Party is famous for doing propaganda against Pakistan and Pakistan’s intelligence institutions.
Afghan Liberal Party is basically an Israeli front in Afghanistan and works in Israel’s direction in Afghanistan.
The publishing of Ajmal Sohail’s story exposed the hypocrisy of Sudha Ramachandran and The Diplomat.
The editor and the well-known media outlet are spreading fake news and doing propaganda against Pakistan, China and Pakistan’s security institutions.
