Pakistan entered the series with a new squad and handed ODI debuts to three top-order batters Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain. The trio received ODI caps 255, 256 and 257.
Ahead of the match, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed confidence in the newcomers, saying the team hoped they would play freely and showcase their talent at the international level.
Shaheen Afridi said that no one has been dropped for this series. However, the management wants to give opportunities to young players.
He said these players will help make the team stronger in the future, and the team is preparing for the upcoming World Cup. The plan is to find the best combination.
Pakistan arrived in Bangladesh after winning their previous ODI series at home against South Africa national cricket team and Sri Lanka national cricket team. The team also held training sessions in Karachi before departing for Dhaka earlier this week.
Historically, Pakistan have dominated the ODI rivalry, winning 34 of the 39 matches played between the two sides, with one match ending without a result.
The series opener began at 1:15 pm Pakistan time and is being broadcast live on PTV Sports.
