Iran has issued a strong response to the recent attacks, declaring well known American and Israeli companies and banks, including Google and Microsoft, as potential targets according to reports on Wednesday.
Google, economic centres, banks could be targeted
According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), offices and core infrastructure of American and Israeli technology companies have also been included among possible targets.
These companies include Google, Microsoft and other institutions whose cloud and technology systems operate in various countries across the Middle East.
Media reports say the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that if further attacks are carried out against Iran, economic centres and banks linked to American and Israeli institutions could be targeted.
The statement also cautioned the public to avoid staying within a one kilometre radius of banks.
Trump reveals what Iran ‘must do’
Donald Trump has said Iran must immediately remove any mines that may have been placed in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, calling it a “giant step in the right direction.”
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump warned Tehran that any mines placed in the key shipping route must be removed without delay.
The US leader said that if Iran had placed mines in the Strait. Although Washington had no confirmed reports, they should be taken out immediately.
Trump also warned that failure to do so could lead to serious military consequences.
“If for any reason mines were placed and they are not removed forthwith, the military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before,” he wrote. “If, on the other hand, they remove what may have been placed, it will be a giant step in the right direction.”
The president added that the United States was using technology similar to that used against drug traffickers to monitor activity in the waterway and stop any attempts to lay mines.
Trump further said the US military had already struck and “completely destroyed” 10 inactive mine laying vessels in the area as part of efforts to secure the important maritime corridor.
