According to a report, Mojtaba Khamenei was moved to a secret location after the assassination strike on his father, the former Supreme Leader of Iran.
The announcement comes during heightened speculation regarding the location of Mojtaba Khamenei, who has not made a public appearance since being designated as Iran’s Supreme Leader after the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, in an air strike at the onset of the US–Israel conflict with Iran in 2026.
The New York Times, referencing three unnamed Iranian officials, has reported that the new leader sustained multiple injuries, including wounds to his legs.
Analysts speculate that he may have been injured during the catastrophic air strike on February 28, which targeted a compound in Tehran and resulted in the deaths of his father, mother, and wife on the conflict’s first day.
Mojtaba Khamenei was selected as the new supreme leader by the powerful Assembly of Experts.

According to the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Yousef Pezeshkian, the leader has reportedly sustained injuries but is considered “safe and sound,” marking the first official account regarding the leader’s abrupt absence from the public eye following his remarkable ascent to power.
Yousef Pezeshkian mentioned that he had received information suggesting that Mojtaba Khamenei had been injured and reached out to individuals with pertinent connections to verify the details.
The feedback he obtained confirmed that the new supreme leader had indeed been hurt but was alive and in stable condition.
