Holiday on Jumat-ul-Wida

Meanwhile, the government of Sindh has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Jumat-ul-Wida, which will fall on March 19 this year.

Provincial Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah confirmed the decision on Wednesday.

He said the holiday was announced to make it easier for citizens to take part in religious activities and attend prayers on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

Nasir Hussain Shah also said that a major road in Karachi will be named after Ali Khamenei.

However, he clarified that rallies will not be allowed on Shahrah-e-Faisal on Jumat-ul-Wida due to traffic management and security concerns.

He directed all religious and political organisations to hold their rallies on traditional and previously designated routes.

Organisers were also asked to cooperate with authorities to ensure public convenience and maintain law and order.

Officials said security and traffic arrangements will be put in place in Karachi and other areas of Sindh for gatherings expected on the occasion.

The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has also announced that all academic activities and classes will move to online mode from March 16, 2026.

The university administration said that the schedule and method for online classes will be decided by department heads in consultation with their deans.
