Bangladesh set 291 runs target for Pakistan in 3rd ODI

In a dramatic finish to the ODI series in Dhaka, Pakistan came agonisingly close to victory but fell short, losing the series 1-2 against Bangladesh.

Chasing Bangladesh’s total of 291 runs, the Pakistan team failed to chase the target. Despite a valiant effort from middle-order batsman Salman Ali Agha, who scored a brilliant century, Pakistan could not cross the finish line.

Bangladesh scored 290 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Tanzeed Hasan played a brilliant innings of 107 runs, while Liton Das scored 41, Saif Hasan made 36, and Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 27 runs. Towhid Hridoy remained not out on 44 runs.

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf took 3 wickets, while Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed picked up one wicket each.

Salman Ali Agha played an outstanding innings of 106 runs, hitting nine fours and four sixes. Apart from him, Saad Masood scored 38 runs, Shaheen Afridi added 37, and Abdul Samad contributed 34 runs.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took four wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman claimed three and Naheed Rana picked up two wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first against Bangladesh in the third and final One Day International of the three-match series being played in Mirpur.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi announced two changes to the side ahead of the decisive match. According to the captain, Shamil Hussain and Hussain Talat have been ruled out due to injuries. In their absence, Ghazi Ghauri and Saad Masood have been handed their international debuts.

During the cap presentation ceremony, Saad Masood received his Pakistan cap from fast bowler Haris Rauf, while Ghazi Ghauri was presented with his debut cap by wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan.

The Pakistan playing XI for the third ODI includes Sahibzada Farhan, Moaz Sadaqat, Ghazi Ghauri, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha, Abdul Samad, Saad Masood, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed.

The match comes after Pakistan levelled the series with a commanding 128-run victory over Bangladesh in the second ODI, which was decided under the Duckworth-Lewis method due to weather interruptions. Bangladesh had earlier taken the lead in the series by winning the first ODI.
